In case anyone does not know, just as Kevin left he posted patch 4. This is available from ftp.demon.co.uk:/pub/perl/db/oraperl

Not to my knowledge. I'm sure he would have contacted the people working on DBperl if he was back on the net. When posting patch 4 he said:
: As I no longer have access to the net, please do not try to send me
: mail. If you really want, you can write to me at the address below, but
: please enclose an International Reply Coupon if you want a reply. I

I've just posted the following in reply to a message in comp.lang.perl:

| I guess you're thinking of DBperl. The DBperl effort is still alive and
| kicking after just over a year.
|
| I'm currently the editor of the draft specification. The spec is being
| developed and reviewed on a mailing list of over 50 members (maybe 10
| of whom are active).
|
| We are about half way through the current review cycle and it's looking
| VERY good (no hint of bias there :-). To give you some idea of the scope
| and detail of the spec, it's just topped 100Kb (~50 pages).
|
| I hope to release a stable version 1.0 spec to the net by December.
|
| An archive of all known database interfaces/utilities for perl (including
| ingres, oracle, sybase, unify, postgres, informix and interbase) is
| maintained in ftp.demon.co.uk:/pub/perl/db. This is also the home of the
| DBperl API specification.
|
| As for oraperl, it's very mature and stable in it's current form (patch
| level 4). Kevin was not planning to make any more releases until he
| could develop a DBperl conformant version.
|
| Unless someone else steps in to support oraperl, it's likely that I'll
| develop it into one of the first full DBperl implementations. I can't
| see this happening before mid '94. :-(

Much as I'd like to, I simply don't have the time to maintain the current version of oraperl. We use it here for some major applications and I'd be very grateful if someone could support it!
