Which RDBMS to prefer : ORACLE/Informix?

Hi everybody:
I need someone to advise me on which RDBMS to decide for my career. I would like to base my profession on two major RDBMS i.e. ORACLE and Informix. I need a critical evaluation of these two databases. Basically I am looking for the comparative evaluation of the merits and demerits along with the latest technical updates about them. I would rally appreciate if some knowledgeable netter could reply thru' email.
