ORACLE shadow processes

Does anyone know how to find out the corresponding "partner" of a shadow process? i.e., using SQL*Net version1 for Orcale7 on a UNIX box, each SQL*PLUS session (for example) creates a shadow process on the server machine. Is there a way of knowing which shadow process belongs to which SQL*PLUS session?

Every now and then one of these shadow processes gets out of control and eats up CPU on the server. I would like to be able to know which ORCALE session this shadow process belongs to - so I know who/how/why it is that's creating these run-away processes.

The SQL*DBA command monitor process doesn't help much. Is there anything else that might be?

Thanks,

Robert Power
