Hmmmm, could be memory.....but,

I used Oracle card some time ago (Version 1) and had a similar problem when I specified the connect string along with the username and password. You could try adding the line local=T:host:sid to your DOS config.ora. So that you no longer have to specify the connect string each time you log on.
