I have no details and am not entirely sure it was a trademark conflict.
The rumour mill had it there is/was an organization in northern Europe that snagged the 'IFS' moniker and, since Oracle was using it as an acronym instead of a trademark, they decided to be a good citizens.
But Googling for IFS comes up with a research foundation at http://www.ifs.se and an Oracle Partner at http://www.ifsworld.com as possibilities.
