sql*loader and licensing

we are working on a product where we provide schemas, etc, that allow the user to supply a back end oracle database (versus our supplied open source db).

one part of the product wants/needs to do bulk loading, and we are wondering if we are allowed to ship (which comes with the hardware it runs on) with sql*loader installed on the machine without our having to pay any licensing fees.

it seems to me that oracle would encourage us to do this, since we are, in a way, encouraging our customers to use oracle as a back end datastore, but i cannot find anything that says this is okay (or that it is not).

the best we can figure is that we cannot do this, we have to get the customer (who, of course, has the requisite oracle licenses) to install the oracle client software, but i was hoping that maybe that was incorrect. Received on Sat May 10 2003 - 21:24:26 CEST
