Oracle's support site says to use developer 6i with Oracle 7.3.4 and up. Why not just do this upgrade at a minimum, and have some support for a little while, and learn the new databases on a test instance? Then later do the other upgrade.
What are your forms currently written with? What platform, and where are you headed?
We have the exact issues at work. We're running 7.3.3 on NT with Oracle Developer 1.3.2 32-bit. We're doing our DB upgrade next month to 8.0.6, then rollout out a new client/server 6i application on March 1st. Then both our servers get Windows 2000 and Oracle 8.1.7 in April-to May. I'm hoping it all works, considering neither of us our DBAs nor know anything about Windows 2000. Fingers crossed!
