Hi,
As you have some C++, the book Core Java from SunSoft press may be useful (it does say it's aimed at advanced programmers), but it's very readable with lots of examples and comparisons to C++. I must admit I've not progressed a great deal though due to time constraints.
JDeveloper is oracle's front end tool, but I can't comment since I've never used it.
