Hi there.

I really appreciate if you can help me with this one. Forgive me if this is too long. I want to make sure whoever help me will get all the detail in the first place. :)

My PC is NT 4.0 workstation. And The oracle is sitting on Unix somewhere in the building. The repository is also sitting on Unix. So, when I install Designer 6.0 on my PC, it will talk to Unix host to do the job.

I have followed the instruction on client-side installation and together with my DBA friend, we have followed the instruction on serverside  installation (there are some steps that should be done as SYS so my DBA friend help me with those ones).

After following all 22 steps (if you recall, there are 22 steps on server-side installation for new repository) without any problem, then there are 8 activities to check under "After You Install" section.

1. Ensure that at least one non-SYSTEM rollback segment is online.
2. Check for invalid or missing Repository object.
3. Set up the broadcast server (optional).
4. Test the SGA pinning mechanism.
5. Create a test application system.
6. Delete the installation log files.
7. Create subordinate users if desired.
8. Change the repository owner's password.

We've done the 1,2 and 4 flawlessly. We did not do number 3 since it is not explained anywhere in installation guide. I personally did number 2 and 4, and there is no missing or invalid objects.

Then, we encounter problem with number 5. I open Designer and put login, password, and connect string. So far so good.
when I try to create a test application system (put TEST in application system field, and click "create" button"), I got "RME-00011: Operation 'open' on ACTIVITY has failed". The "error stack" window has :
"RME-00011: Operation 'open' on ACTIVITY has failed". "RME-00011: operation 'INS' on ci_application_systems has failed"

The "Error Cause and Action" gives additional information. It displays

as follow:
"//*Cause: An API operation request has failed for some reason.
//*Action: Examine other reported errors for specific details".

There is nowhere in the online help on how to solve this problem. And it is not mentioned in Server-side installation and Upgrade manual about what to do if creating a test application system fails.

Clearly the DBMS version is different on Client Side between RAU and Designer.

The repository version is also different between Client Side and Server Side.

So, any help from out there to resolve my problem would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.
