We use Discoverer for our Warehouse report application. It is a good fit for exposing star schemas to the end user. It has a number of features which help when developing a reporting front-end for your warehouse. It automates the creation of summary tables for structures that get a high volume of queries, and acts as a metadata layer for simplifying the table and column names, creating pre-defined filters, calculated fields, and joins. The end user does not even have to know how to spell "SQL", but if he does, he can do even more. Our end-users are often barely computer literate, let alone technically savvy, and they still have to be able to write reports and drill into the ones we have set up. It allows you to think a lot, so that they don't have to.

I have never used Business Objects, but we did look at Crystal Reports as a candidate, and determined that it was *too technical* for our end users. Discoverer can be set up to be easier for the end user than CR, IMHO.
