Oracle Reports on Unix connecting to Sybase 11.5

We are getting mixed messages about the ability to connect Oracle Reports on Unix to Sybase 11.5 on Solaris 2.6
We originally tried to use an ODBC driver from Intersolve to connect Reports 2.5 to Sybase 11.5. Unfortunately Reports 2.5 is not ODBC compliant on Unix so we had to reject this.
Our next choice is using Oracle Transparent Gateway for Sybase to create synonyms in Oracle and run Reports directly from Oracle......however, we are now getting conflicting statements as to whether or not this can be done. Apparently Transparent Gateway is not compatable with Sybase 11.5 on Solaris 2.6
Does anyone know if Transparent Gateway is compatable with Sybase 11.5 on Solaris 2.6 and/or are there any alternatives given that Reports has to run on Unix.
