Spawning browser from appletviewer forms/2000 2.0?

I'm creating a suite of forms using Developer/2000 v2.0. These will be run in all 3 environments: using the client Dev/2000 software, using the supplied appletviewer, and using Netscape 4.04 w/JDK1.1.4 softupdate.

I'd like to integrate some help into them using a standard browser. Using the client dev/2000, I can make it work by using a   host ('start netscape http://my_server/my_help_page.html');

Using Netscape, I can make it work with
  web.show_document('http://my_server/my_help_page.html','_TOP');

but, using the appletviewer, neither of these techniques work.

Is there a solution to this at all, possibly using FFI or something?
