+AD4
+AD4 Yup. For the last 15 years, only DBAs supported and promoted
+AD4 over-expensive and buggy Oracle here in NSW, Australia.
+AD4
+AD4 Since 2014 when Oracle decided to +ACI-kill the dba+ACI, I have not heard a
+AD4 single dba in NSW promote Oracle.

Oh, Oracle decided to kill DBA before that. Tuning and diagnostic packs in 10i were basically sold as a replacement for a DBA.

+AD4
+AD4 The result?
+AD4 I have not heard of one single new major account anywhere in NSW since
+AD4 2014. Au contraire, I heard quite a few who ejected the product in
+AD4 favour of Postgres and MSSQL.

That coincides with the advent of SQL Server, DB2 and SAP Hana. I have recently been on a trip to the west coast where a huge corporation is using very large SAP Hana databases and declares Oracle on its way out. They are far from being the only ones. The number of Oracle DBA jobs on Dice.com has dropped for about two thirds as opposed to just a few years ago. Signs of imminent demise are everywhere.

+AD4
+AD4 But of course Oracle management will immediately interject and blog and
+AD4 confirm I am a liar and, of course, a +ACI-bad dba+ACI...

[Quoted] But of course you are. And so was I, while I was a DBA. You will never become an Oracle Ace or a member of the Oak Table. Oak Table is just a [Quoted] branch of Oracle marketing and what both of us are saying is not the [Quoted] message that Oracle Corp. wants a +ACI-good DBA+ACI to spread. That was the essence of my fight with Tanel, who attacked me for calling out BS. There [Quoted] is no such thing as +ACI-Oracle data scientist+ACI. Oracle RDBMS is just a [Quoted] software product, like any other software product, and not a science. [Quoted] Oracle is hiding the internal information about the database and is [Quoted] revealing it to the +ACI-good DBA people+ACI selectively, in hope to make them into scientists. They are not scientists, by any stretch of imagination. [Quoted] That was very visible in a discussion between Jonathan Lewis and Grant Fritchey, a renowned SQL Server expert. They were BOTH very competent engineers and very likable people. You can find the videos on YT. That is still a joy to watch, despite the fact that it's a bit old (2012).

+AD4
+AD4APg Unfortunately, such people would be needed now more than ever, to
+AD4APg employ their vast technical knowledge and experience and give Oracle
+AD4APg some wind beneath its wing. I am afraid that DEC story is about to be
+AD4APg repeated.
+AD4
+AD4 Oracle's biggest handicap at the moment is Larry. Unlike Gates who
left
+AD4 Microslop's steering ages ago so the company could evolve and learn to
+AD4 continue without him. Oracle is tied to Larry's underpants, a huge
+AD4 handicap.

Yup, they've kept him past his expiration date. That is why we have this whole circus with hurding catzes.

+AD4
+AD4 His completely outmoded strategy and incompetent sales and management
+AD4 style is very akin to shooting oneself in the foot.
+AD4 Big time. Then again, he doesn't give a hoot about the company anymore.

Bingo.
