After further investigation I think the problem is that the AUTO_FILTER is not supported on VMS , but the database still considers it the default. If I specify the null filter the index create succeeds. Crashing rather than returning a meaningful error message seems a bit odd though.
I've logged a service request with Oracle to clarify if that is indeed what is going on. Received on Sat Jan 10 2009 - 22:20:32 CST
