Something seems amiss...There is 7GB of free space in the tablespace. The max extent allocated with AUTOALLOCATE is 8MB. Even if the free space was fractured, Oracle would break the allocation down into sub-extents which would fit into the free space available. So why can't the next extent of the index be allocated in a LMT running under AUTOALLOCATE that has 7GB of free space? My initial guess is that all of the assumptions leading to the conclusion are incorrect.

The easiest solution is to just add more space to the tablespace. You can also try to rebuild the index.
