Same experience as some of the others... Our HP machines run and run and run. IF they fail, the problem stays local, like a cpu stops working but the other cpus keep the machine running. The Sun boxes crash more often, and they do go down! Luckily most of our Oracle databases are on HP.
Funny thing though, I kept bugging some users about moving their Oracle DB from a Wintel PC to Unix (a 90g db!), telling them Unix is more reliable. Unfortunately it ended up on one of the few Sun boxes, and in this past year the machine it's on has crashed more often than that old NT box ever did... I hope we can move it to HP soon...
