Not sure why this is a prevalent opinion. RMAN users/admin guide is pretty explicit. And there *is* always Metalink!

As far as the syntax is concerned, I actually find it pretty intuitive (read: English-like). I mean 'backup database including controlfile', 'backup archivelog delete after backup' or some such is just as if you are writing a natural language script! Whats arcane about that?
