It’s a brand new database. There aren’t any app servers yet and no app data even in the database. It was created less than 10 minutes prior.

Did you shut down your app servers?

Hi Scott,

I think, it doesn't have but.. has any process doing a transaction or rollback ? on a new database.. this is a strange behavior.

I have a new Oracle 19.8 install on a new Linux VM. I’m trying to create a new database, but when I do a “shutdown immediate”, it just hangs.

This is what’s in the alert log:

That’s it and it just sits there. I can do a “shutdown abort” then a startup, but as soon as I try to do a “shutdown immediate” again, it does this.

What is causing it? How can I fix it?
