Hi Andy,

The query I spotted consists of many joins and I still have to reduce it to a small reproducible test case.

However, some differences are obvious:

  • It’s a left outer join.
  • It has no distinct in the main query block.
  • There’s a group by in the main query block.

Hi Nenad,

I can’t replicate on (windows), which RU are you on?

I just did explain plan for
Select distinct cols from tab_a join (select /*+no_merge*/distinct cols from tab_b) join on col_a where tab_a.col_b = :x

It took 5 seconds to return but I got a view pushed predicate. Without the no_merge, it just merges so nothing to push into.

Is my demo case similar enough to yours?
