Hi Prem,

I had faced the same situation sometime back. I fought it out by digging = to the Dataguard guide.

Pls follow this
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

FAL_SERVER =3D <Primary_Server TNS Entry> in Standby Database

FAL_CLIENT =3D<Standby Server TNS Entry> in the primary database.

BTW, I guess the "no data loss mode " isin't called that way any more

You have

MAXIMIZE PROTECTION -- This Equates to no data loss mode.

MAXIMIZE AVAILABILITY MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE For Setting the database in Maximize protection mode

Set this parameter in primary database.

log_archive_dest_2=3D'service=3D<standby> reopen=3D60 MANDATORY LGWR = SYNC AFFIRM' Also,

Set this parameter in the standby

standby_file_management=3Dauto -- This would enable automatic creation = of datafiles in the standby

Would be glad to help you out

Best Regards

Sriram Kumar

Subject: standby config --> FAL_SERVER / FAL_CLIENT

Hello everybody,

ENV : oracle 9.2.0.4 / Win2K

i'm trying to set up a physical standby database in=20 managed recovery mode ("No data loss" mode).

FAL_CLIENT & FAL_SERVER -> docs say that=20 these parameter should be set on the standby=20 database .Is it not required on the primary database ?

And :=20
the docs & notes on metalink are not clear about how=20 to set up a physical standby database in managed=20 recovery mode and is confusing . I want the standby=20 database to be set up in " No data loss" mode which is one=20 of the three modes offered by 9i data guard .

Can someone let me know if u have any docs/pointers=20 for the same ? Thanks in advance .

Regards,
Prem.
