Every couple of weeks I have lunch with a group of people
interested in programming languages. There are several
LISPers among the regulars, and these people are well
versed in gc and its implementation.
Occasionally we get illustrious guests. Today we dined
with Hal Abelson. We talked about various things, and
naturally SICP was mentioned at one point. I commented
that I had heard online recently from someone who
mentioned he was named in a footnote for having coined
a term. Everyone looked at me blankly. I said "broken heart"
and the whole room went "ah ......"
It was cool.
