This is "Foundations of Databases" by Serge Abiteboul, Richard Hull and Victor Vianu, in case someone is wondering in the future (because of the picture of Alice from Alice in Wonderland on the cover). I've heard a lot of good things about it and I just ordered it, so look forward to reading it in a few weeks. It seems from the contents page to cover a lot of the stuff that comes up in this newsgroup.
