  I didn't mean support from Sybase for Sybase was bad. I should have been clearer that by "through the web" and websites, I meant third-party assistance, like the kind this newsgroup and the microsoft.public newsgroups provide.

   I don't know how many sybase newsgroups there are, but when I look on groups.google.com, I find very little - most groups have a thread a day or so, and the most I found was about a dozen threads a day. That's not to say it isn't good information, but there seems to be much less out there.

  As you say, that could be because things run so smoothly that there is less need, but the lack of trade books isn't as easy to understand. Amazon.com sells only about 6 Sybase books published in the last 3 years.

  In any case, I did not mean to say that Sybase had poor tech support. I don't know one way or the other, since I've never been involved with a Sybase shop.
