Been in Insurance and Banking; always willing to give advice. If you never get into management, compensation will be better in IT. Job security would be better as a teller. Your chances of getting into management OUTSIDE of IT at the home office are much better starting off in IT. Loan officer/tellers are entry level jobs; DBA is not.
I don't spend hours in this n.g., and I will leave the question of how off-topic this post was to the heavy regulars. My final bit of advice is that advancement to management is dependent on making good first impressions. Off topic posts do not do that.
