On what level are you looking at this? Any introductory text on databases / database design (e.g. Date) will tell you globally the pros and cons of the several normal forms. You can also find this on the several web pages that describe normalization. Or are you looking for more detailed information in research papers that investigate the mathematical properties of the different normal forms?
