You are absolutely correct.
Oracle's 8.0.6 software (released somewhere around 1998/9) was likely never officially tested or certified on the XP operating system (released several years later). There have been enough changes in both products to make this combination completely incompatible and irrelevant.
Is there any particularly good reason for trying to do this?
Since you are talking client, why not use a current client? The current ones should be compatible with 8.0.6 server if that's your concern. (Although if it is, consider upgrading the server s/w) Received on Fri Nov 07 2003 - 15:29:13 CET
