Get a DOS variable in Developer 2000(Forms 4.5)

Can somebody tell me how can I get the value of a DOS variable in the Developer 2000(Forms 4.5)?
In fact I try to get the OS variable to identify the windows version(95/2k). If there are others solution I'll be glad to hear them.
