Hello,
I set up Oracle 9i Standard Edition on my laptop last night and the installation took about 13 GB! I had about 13 GB freee before I started and afterward I had about 1 MB. The Oracle tree holda about 13 GB, on my desktop the same install occupies 3 GB!
The laptop, Dell Inspiron 8100 is running Windows XP Pro, the desktop, an IBM Netvista A60, is running Windows 2000 Pro
On the laptop the installation stalled about halfway. I tried running deinstall but there were no programs to deinstall, so I just stopped all Oracle services and looked for any processes that might belong to Oracle but I did not find any. Then I deleted the whole Oracle tree. There was a file, cia.dll, that could not be deleted. I was able to move it and rename it, then I was able to delet it.
I ran the installation again and it ran OK.
Does anyone have any idea what happened?
Any help would be appreciated. I have not tried deinstalling yet, I will probably have to delete enough files that Windows will run before the deinstall program would work anyway.
Is there any point in contacting Oracle about this?
Any help on this would be appreciated,
