List Items in Forms Developer

Hi there Folks,

       I was wondering if we have the option of search in any of the three list items in Forms, so that when the user is populating that field using the list item he should be able to search from a large list say about 3000-4000 different items.

       Alternatively using a LOV would be a better option or not? 
       Another thing, if the user selects the name of a certain item

from the list item and is it possible that another field is populated automatically. For example if the user selects the description of a item from a list item, then the code for that item should be populated in another field.
