Oracle Certs.....Help

Hi all:

I would like to have your help to tell me something about Oracle 8i, Database Certification, which I plan to follow.

I am an IT student now and I intend to get an Oracle Certification on Oracle Database 8i(from now to next summer). Please tell if I should take 8i or 9i because I am confused (I currently learn a lot 8i already but not 9i).

Also, I don't think I can attend class-led courses from Oracle Company. I choose self study instead. Please advice me what kinds of books and I should buy.

I appreciate your help very much.
