It depend from version of Oracle:

in Oracle 9i (any version 9.0.1, 9.2.0) u can use all ANSI syntax (LEFT, RIGHT, FULL) OUTER JOIN In Oracle 7.xx, 8.0.x, 8i J.P show to u best way.
