Hello Hanna,

First have a look at the createdb.log-File in OracleDirectory\admin\<OracleInst>\create. Is there another error message before the ORA-01034? Solve this first.

I had the same problem with Oracle 8.1.7 on Win 2000. I recevied the ORA-00439(Managed Standby)
in the createdb.log before ORA-01034. The solution in my case was not to activate
the archive-logging option in the DB Configuration Assistant at creation time of the
Oracle instance. I activated the log-archive after creation and after correcting the parameter
in the init.ora-File.
