First, may I assume that you updated your Oracle client. The 8.1.5.x ODBC driver is designed to run on an 8.1.5 client system, while the 8.1.6.5 ODBC driver is designed to run on an 8.1.6 client system. If you did not update your client to 8.1.6 prior to installing this driver, you need to do so now.

Second, have you updated the version of the MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) installed on your machine? There have probably been a number of iterations between the release of the 8.1.5 and 8.1.6.5 drivers. The README that accompanies your ODBC driver will indicate which MDAC was used in testing. You can grab new versions of the MDAC from Microsoft at <http://www.microsoft.com/data>.
