3 short questions, help

Hi,
I am a newbie with Oracle.
1.- What is the equivalent in Oracle to the Informix "SERIAL" column type I have used to generate unique id's automatically? If there is not quiv., which is the more approx. type?
2.-Does it work properly the "CREATE DOMAIN <domain-name> <data-type>" statement?, i want to use it.
3.-I am trying to install Oracle 8i for Linux (8.1.7) in a RedHat Linux 7.1 Intel (192 MB RAM).I have created the groups and the user oracle and i have setup the environment, but when I log as oracle user and execute the "./runInstaller" script from the CD, it does not do anything, it executes the Oracle JRE that consumes RAM and CPU resources as reported by top and runs forever (until I kill it) but nothings appear in the GNOME desktop (I have set the $DISPLAY). I've tried several times and even I've copied all the content of the CD on harddisk but the result is the same.
