uploading a file to database from the web using perl

I am trying to allow users of my web site to upload pdf, image and powerpoint files to my Oracle database using a Perl script. I want the files stored in the database and not on the web server. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to do this. I have a script that will upload a file to a server, however I need to get the files into the database. I am using a UNIX server.
