General question regarding external database deployment

Hi all,
I have been a dba/developer for a couple of years, but recently changed employer. From administrating "in-house" databases, I'm now dealing with one database which is part of a software product that is sold to customers.

My question is regarding how I should deal with tablespaces, datafiles etc.
Should I put all objects in the TOOLS tablespace or should I do what I am used to (splitting indexes and tables into different tablespaces etc.)?

What is the common way to deal with such things when developing a database that is deployed "out-of-house"?
