Yahoo like directory structure

Hi,
I'm looking to setup a hierarchy like the one used for yahoo.com's
categories. My trouble comes when I try to design the table structures and
subsequent sql statements in a way that leaves the hierarchy expandable, yet
easy to navigate. Does anyone have any suggestions or links to relavent
information?
