We are getting ready to implement an ERP project using Oracle Financials 11.0. The environment will be a HACMP on the primary site, but we will also be implementing a disaster recovery at a remote failover site.
What is the general take on this ? The DBA and I are looking at running the remote site as a standby database and sending the archive logs from the production site to the DR site on a timely basis ( using RDIST or something similar ).
We have looked at a package called DataMirror ( www.datamirror.com ), but are not sure this will accomplish what we want to do since DataMirror says they can replicate data, but not objects.
Are there other solutions / software available to do what we are trying to accomplish ( Oracle Advanced Replicator ? ) or is the standby database the most stable and tried & true method.
Any assistance is truly appreciated and forgive some of my ignorance, I am a SysAdmin _at_ heart < grin >. The database servers will be AIX 4.3.2 on RS/6000 S7A servers. The remote site will be network connected over a frame connection and bandwidth during business hours ( 8-5 ) will be an issue.
Thanks in advanced...
Lamar
