Hi ,

I am not sure what do you mean by not using your new service to connect to the database. In the normal case, NT services will start both your SID service
and database. In order to connect to the database, you have to use Net8 to configure
your tnsnames.ora which I believe you had done. Perhaps, have you configure listener.ora
to put your ORCL sid. If this is not started, you may not be able to connect from
client station.
