If your are going to use Designer, you have to create a repository. It's not just "a subset of the existing set of tables", it's a place where Designer is keeping your models. All your models of different types, not only
a logical/physical data model, and not only one model - you can use this tool for several projects at the same time.

If it is a fresh installation, just create a default repository (seeded), it

will same your time. Later you can delete that demo projects, and free space in your tablespace.
