16-bit ODBC Problem

I'm having problems with running 16-Bit ODBC applications from my Win95 PC. My current configuration consist of:-

16-Bit - ODBC 2.5.3.1.0; SQL*Net 2.3.3.0.1; RSFs 7.3.3.0.0 32-Bit - ODBC 2.5.3.1.0B; SQL*Net 2.3.4.0; RSFs 7.3.4.0.0

The 32-bit layer works OK, but the 16-bit layer is a bit erratic - i.e. I can in fact query the RDBMS (7.2.3 on solaris 2.5 platform) using the 16-Bit ODBC Test Tool. However, when I try to query using VB 3 applications I get an undefined error. Looking a bit further, I get a message stating that I have an invalid datasource when using the Oracle ODBC Support Tool (v2.3)?! I find this strange since as mentioned the 16-Bit ODBC Test Tool works OK.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
