Version-Control Module?

Is there some sort of module available to add version-control to Oracle at the record-level?
By version-control, I mean the standard series/parallel revsion capability such as PVCS.
There would be version-aware clients as well as version-unaware clients. The version-unaware clients would just have to receive the "latest" revision.
In some sense, I'm thinking of trapping the CHANGE command and converting it to an INSERT "next version".
I'm at the "fishing-out" stage, so this is a little vague in terms of the features and client requirements.
