Oracle 8 and Oracle forms 5.0 connection problem

Hi all,
I have a personal oracle 8.0 and oracle forms 5.0. I installed Oracle first and then Oracle forms. When I go from forms to connect to database, my system hangs up. I am running both of this on non-networked machine.
Any Solutions would be greatly appreciated.
