Linking Database

I am looking for some guidance for the following problem which I am facing:

we have a UNIX platform installed with an ORACLE ENGINE (software) running on it. We have developed a program using Developer 2000 for the

use of our designers whereby they can retrieve drawings for batch printings.

The problem I am facing right now is while exporting the table and data cause of the huge amount of data involving a lot of time.

Can anybody advice me how to link to the main server so that I can use the Database running within it?

Plz help!!!
