Oracle 8.0.4 Installation

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 8.0.4 on an HP-UX 11 machine ( HP 9000 D Class). I think I am doing everything right ( can't go wrong when you type orainst). All environment variables are set, created oracle accounts etc. when I type in orainst, it just hangs. it spawns orainst.cm and it cannot be killed.
I am wondering it needs any patches or something. Any help is greatly appreciated.
