Jeremy,
Rumors are rumors... Except for the CASE repository (Designer/2000) which must be under RB, most of the DBs I administrates (7.1.6 --> 7.3.2) are running under Cost Base Optimalization. That works fine. Of course, in case of very complicated 'select' (select from select from select from ... built in views, from views, from views from ...) it's sometimes better to use RB. Don't forget to make regularly an 'analyze' of your schemas to be sure that sufficient and up-to-date statistics are available for the optimizer.
