POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the corporate database system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform database management and administration, including creation and maintenance of user accounts, facilitation of changes, system backups, etc.
  • Plan, implement, and support changes to database system software and hardware
  • Troubleshoot user and network database problems
  • Analyze and recommend the purchase of associated database software tools and hardware
  • Coordinate with the lead UNIX and Novell Administrators on database issues affecting both environments

SKILLS

  • Oracle 7.x database administration experience
  • Strong UNIX experience; working knowledge of Windows 95/NT, Novell
  • Database management and performance tuning
  • Database troubleshooting (hardware/software)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database design
  • Experience writing stored procedures

  • Strong work ethic; ability to work flexible hours, sometimes in the evening or on weekends
  • Must be a team player, draws energy and drive in working with others

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Two years of Oracle database management experience
  • Oracle DBA training, Oracle certification desirable
