Why should Microsoft turn benevolent after all this time. Their arrogance with their in-house products gives a NIH syndrome. Now, if Microsoft ONLY had MS Access, and no other database product, then maybe. The gap between SQL Server (or whatever they are calling it today) and the PC versions of Informix or Sybase database servers are not that large. The real differences exist in the Unix versions of these products. Microsoft has shown little or no interest in pursueing the needs of the Unix market to date.
