  Just my opinion, for what its worth, 80 hours sounds way way way out of line unless you already have a huge amount of data stored in the database and have a really slow machine. It is not difficult to create a partition on a second drive and create a tablespace there for your indexes if you already have your database up and running, especially if you saved your ".sql" files that created your indexes in the first place. Just edit them and change the tablespace name.

  Now if I may add a question for the real guru's. Is it better to stripe a tablespace accross drives and create both index's and data tables there, or just put a data tablespace on one drive and an index on the other drive? I have two scsi controllers so I can split drives between controllers.
