Mr. Nutter:

It would appear that you may be running a database with the parallel options enabled. The log file is
apparently listed in the init[SID].ora file of another Oracle instance. Or at least the database believes
so. The control file has the location of the log file in it as well. Check the init[SID].ora file for the location of the log files or check the crdb.sql script that created the database. If necessary, the control files can be
deleted and rebuilt using a media recovery technique, found in the Oracle Server Administrator's Guide.
You would normally have 3 log files, each with a different name. Also ensure that the log file is in a directory accessible to Oracle.
